Young Thug and Elton John make trap?! Trap is a popular genre of music that has started to evolve and merge with other genres. Trap is similar to hip-hop/ rap, however it's more aggressive. It began to emerge in the 1990s in the south, and can be defined as "a genre with a hard attitude". This type of music is filled with "sounds of triangles, brass, loud kicks, triplet hi hats, snappy snares, as well as low end 808 bass samples". Rapper, Young Thug is one of the pioneers in making trap hybrids relevant in the world of music. He has created many himself and has without a doubt inspired many artist to do the same. The song "High" by Young Thug featuring pop/rock legend Elton John, is a great example of a trap hybrid. "High" was released in 2018 on Young Thug's "On the Rvn" album. You can hear the blend of the two genres from the "pop piano" to the "trap drums", to the 808s and hi hats. The music channel Genius' deconstructed video perfectly breaks down the song exposing the two genres. Trap is continuing to intertwine with other genres, creating unique sounds in music.
