Many singers, like Mariah Carey and Beyoncé, have very impressive vocal ranges. Songs like Emotions are known for the unusually high notes singers are able to hit, especially if the singer can also sing in a lower register. However, there are some singers that go unrecognized for their own impressive vocal ranges, even though we might've heard one of their songs vefore.
If you're a millennial or a zoomer, you've likely burned through some free time watching meme videos on YouTube. And if you've done that, you may have heard a short clip of a funny man making odd, high pitched noises with his mouth. But that's where it ends for most people. This clip isn't particularly interesting enough to find out where it's from, let alone come to know the artist.
I'm talking about Vitas, singer of The 7th Element
The "turkey call" is the part that may sound familiar to many people. In this part and during the chorus, Vitas demonstrates the upper register of his seven octave vocal range. Impressive! Unfortunately, because he's a Russian language singer, he's gone relatively unnoticed in the U.S.
Soon, your snazzy outfits will be noticed, Vitas. Soon.
