Whoever knew you could mix Gospel music with Trap? Believe it or not, gospel trap is a type of trap hybrid that is becoming more and more popular as the years progress. One very popular Gospel trap song that has been surfacing the internet for sometime is "I Luh God" by Erica Campbell. “I luh God” was one of the few gospel trap songs that took society by storm. There was a lot of controversy around the type of music that should be considered “Christian-like,” As you may know, Trap music is most commonly associated with drugs, money, and lots of women. All of these being things that Christian do not want to be associated with. On one side, some Christians are wowed by “what The Gospel of Jesus Christ has come to” and saying things like “ is this what worship has come to[?] ‘Be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,’” On the other hand, there are several Christians who are open to new gospel trap wave. One person from the comments under the music video said, “this [the song “I luh God”] gets me pumped for Jesus. The younger generation needs more beat and bass heavy music . . . . [T]he Holy Spirit bumps for me [in this song as well].” Despite these controversies with gospel trap, it is a genre of music that continues to grow among the younger generations. By adding trap to other genres of music, it is allowing us to move from our old strict ways and now advance into a new era of music.
