Mariah Carey, also referred to as the "Song Bird Supreme" by the Guinness World Record, is very well-known for her broad octave vocal range. You're probably thinking, what does that even mean? Well, an octave is the interval between one musical pitch and another with double its frequency. The average person can sing between 1.5 and 2.5 octaves; whereas, Mariah can sing five! Impressive, right? One of her hit songs "Emotions" was written in the key of C major, although Mariah prefers to sing in the key of B major. It may seems like a challenge; however, her vocal range manages to span for more than four octaves on the track (from C3 to E7). The song hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100s after seven weeks, and was later nominated for the 1992 Grammy Award as "Best Female Pop Performance". Without a doubt Mariah has a remarkable talent and ability to hit these notes. Now the question is, what note can you hit?
